R-seal Bag
An R-seal bag is a film sleeve that has one end heat-sealed. It is an excellent packaging solution for gift baskets and pump bottles (such as hand lotions). The sealed sleeve is placed over the top of the product and shrinks tightly to it in the heat tunnel. R-seal bags are usually shrunk to overlap the bottom of the product, but are not fully sealed on the bottom end.
The benefits of combo bands include:
- Security. An R-seal bag can help safeguard against the theft of loose items from gift baskets. Consumers are also prevented from spraying or pumping product from sealed bottles.
- Cost savings. R-seal bags prevent the mess and costly loss of products that results when pump bottles are accidentally depressed during shipping or on the store shelf.
- Ease of application. R-seal bags can be easily slipped over the top of container by hand before shrinking. NOTE: If the R-seal bag will overlap the bottom of the container, a puck system will be needed to elevate the container off the conveyor during the shrinking process.
- Increased consumer appeal. R-seal bags can be printed in attractive colors to give the product a high degree of shelf appeal. They can also be printed with text to assist in marketing the product.
Sizing
To size an R-seal band:
- For a lay flat dimension, multiply the diameter of the container by 1.6 mm.
- Measure the total height of the container from bottom to top.
- When ordering R-seal bags, it is very important to include the shape of the container, to help us determine whether a straight or curved seal will be appropriate.
